Welcome to Church In The Highlands UCC

The Church in the Highlands is more than just a location. We value people.

Founded in 1921, the Church in the Highlands is a congregation of the United Church of Christ (UCC), a progressive Protestant denomination created in 1957, but with roots going back to the Pilgrims, who came to these shores seeking religious freedom. First to ordain women (in 1860!) , first to protest slavery, home to Abolitionists and freed slaves, first to ordain openly gay ministers (1972), we are a united and united body of believers in Jesus, the Risen Christ.

The Bible is central to our teaching and beliefs. We celebrate the common Judaic-Christian traditions that bind together all that worship Jesus the Christ as Lord and Savior. There is openness in our fellowship. Everyone is welcome, no matter their race or nationality. For us, the God we worship is One and each human being is our brother or sister

RE-OPENING PLAN OF OUR CHURCH

We are worshipping through Zoom every Sunday at 10 AM.  Indoor worship will possibly resume in October in the church sanctuary, assuming there is no spike in the cases of Covid-19 in Westchester; we plan to open our sanctuary to 50% capacity, and will observe social distancing and the use of masks. Only the sanctuary and bathrooms will be open for use once we reopen.

Our two “nested” churches, Seventh Day and El Faro, will resume worship in  September, following these same guidelines.

If you missed any of our worship services in April, May, or June, you can find them on our website, and we hope you will visit us there: http://www.churchinthehighlands.org

We hope you will come worship with us!

Every Sunday at 10 am, or virtually, at churchinthehighlands.org

No matter who you are or where you are on your journey, we welcome you!
